Monkey Challenge Overview

The MONKEY CHALLENGE

PURPOSE

  • To encourage students immediately apply what they learn from the seminar through a fun and monkey challenge overview via a channel they are super familiar with (social media) and with their peers
  • It enables students to gain clarity on their most dominant monkey, and challenges them to get that monkey off their back.
  • To create a ripple effect that encourages and inspires others to do the same

WHAT STUDENTS NEED TO DO?

**Applicable to high school students only**

After the seminar, students who choose to take part are to share and describe most dominant monkey in a creative way and the ONE strategy they will apply over the course of the 10 day challenge – on social media (including hashtag #GetTheMonkeysOffYourBack and tag @danielmerza) in one of the following ways:

  • Post on IG or Tiktok
  • Story share on Instagram
  • Direct message on IG (to me) – if student prefers to be private

Creative ways include:

  • Video – talking to camera
  • Video – voiceover
  • Video – no words – messages in writing
  • Written text with image
  • Song
  • Poem

Once the student has given themselves enough time to apply the strategies learned from the seminar to get the most dominant monkey off their back, they are to share their win/progress and how they got that monkey off your back so you can encourage and inspire others to do the same.

HOW WILL STUDENTS BE INTRODUCED TO THE CHALLENGE?

Students will be introduced to the challenge at two points in the seminar:

1. Midway through

  • At the 30 min mark, just after i’ve unpacked the 5 monkeys, the challenge is introduced
  • Students will be asked to get the phones out and take down the link to the monkey challenge overview to save on their phones, so they review in detail after the seminar.

2. End of seminar

  • Students are reminded to take part in the MC
